The phenomenon that has taken the beauty world by storm is really just the act of swishing a mouthful of oil (coconut, sunflower & sesame are your best options) for 20 minutes OR in other words, gargling & rinsing with oil!
Oil Pulling can be dated back to the Ayurvedic times.
This is best done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The idea is to keep swishing oil for about 15-20 minutes and then spitting it out. Under no circumstances should you swallow this oil.
Swishing activates enzymes which draw all toxins and harmful bacteria! Continuous pulling & swishing will make the oil thin and pale and this means its laden with toxins. At this point you should spit it out. If the oil you spit is heavy and yellow, that indicates you haven't pulled long enough.
The sink you spit in should also be throughly cleaned as this pulled oil is very loaded with harmful germs.
