Home Baked Whole Wheat Flour Bread

You Are What You Eat
We have taken a major step towards eating clean by baking bread. This loaf is 100% whole wheat and baked with very little sugar, salt & olive oil. You should know exactly what goes in your body! And a little effort here & there goes a long way. So eat clean, train dirty & stay chic because food, fitness & fashion go hand in hand.

To make whole wheat bread at home you will need-

3 cups of whole wheat flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp dried active yeast

2 tsp yogurt

2 tsp olive oil

Add 1 tsp sugar & 1 tsp yeast to 1.25 cups of warm water. Make sure this is lukewarm not hot not cold. Yeast takes about 10 minutes to activate.

Mean while in a pan put 3 cups whole wheat and add to that 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp yogurt and 2 tsp olive oil. Add the yeast water solution to your dry ingredients slowly and knead. This water should be sufficient however if you feel the dough is a bit dry add some more water.

At first the dough will feel messy and be all over the place. Don't worry thats perfectly normal :)

Sprinkle some dry atta/whole wheat flour on your kitchen worktop and continue kneading for about 10-12 minutes or so. At this point the dough should come together beautifully. It will be stretchy, just like elastic.

Put the dough back in the pan, cover it with a lid and let it rest for an hour and a half. Do not put it in the refrigerator.

After an hour and a half, you will notice that the dough would have risen. At this point punch & deflate the dough and shape it like a loaf. Grease your mould and place the dough in it. Let this rest for another hour.

After an hour this dough should literally double in size. Bake it in a piping hot pre heated oven (for 15 mins or so) at 200 degrees celsius for about 20-25 mins. Brush it with milk before popping it in the oven as a final touch!

The loaf should be golden brown and if you tap it top & bottom, it should sound hollow. That indicates your bread is perfectly baked.

And you're finished!

Enjoy your home baked sans preservatives healthy loaf xx
